About me

I'm Claire, and I run CW Speech Therapy alongside my admin assistant Julia. I'm a Mum of two, and live with my husband and children just outside of Shrewsbury. I grew up in Shropshire and despite spending 10 years studying and working in Birmingham, I was always keen to return home! I'm an avid bookworm, Formula 1 fan, coffee drinker and love to be out and about with the family! I love working with children and feel incredibly lucky to have the skills to make a difference.

Speech and Language Therapist

Since graduating with a BSc Hons in Speech and Language Therapy from BCU in 2007 I have enjoyed working in a variety of settings, but really found my niche working with children.  I work with children from the age of 2 up to around 10 years old and I love the variety that this brings to my working day.

How can I help you?

I pride myself on providing a family orientated approach to speech and language therapy.  I work with children who have never had Speech and Language Therapy input before, as well as with children who just need a fresh, fun and empathetic new approach to continue to develop their communication.

After a free phone consultation I will assess whether I can meet your needs and then plan an assessment and course of therapy if necessary. I am friendly and flexible and offer home, school or nursery visits to suit you.  I will help to signpost you to someone else if I feel your needs are not in my area of expertise.

I am practised at putting children of all ages at ease by focusing communication strategies on their interests, from there we can work using age and learning level appropriate strategies. I always want children to leave sessions with me to feel confident and empowered and not like they have been working or studied; this is particularly relevant for the very youngest individuals I work with where therapy is always based around play.

I feel that it is vitally important that you are completely involved in your child's therapy plan.  I work with you to ensure that you always understand what I am doing and why and to ensure that you are fully prepared to support their progress between sessions.

I also love training parents, carers and professionals in all aspects of communication - if you have a training need then please do get in touch and let me see what I can do to help!
